Reducer in LPG installation - what to remember about?

The gas installation consists of many elements in which most drivers & drivers often forget. One of the most underestimated is definitely the reducer. This element is called r & oacute, also the evaporator is the most important part of almost every gas installation. In the latest fifth generation of gas installations, the evaporator does not exist. However, due to the fact that most of the car is already equipped with third and fourth generation LPG installations, we will try today to bring it closer.

What is the reducer in the installation responsible for?

This element has many tasks, so it is worth paying attention to it with every installation review. First of all, it has the task of changing the state of the mixture of propane butane from liquid to vapor. In addition to the evaporation of liquids, it is important to reduce the gas pressure and supply a sufficient amount of gas, which ensures proper operation of the engine. It also has an important function of protecting against gas outflow when the vehicle is stationary.

Servicing and changing the regulator

For each vehicle fitted with LPG systems, the regulator should be properly maintained and the recommendations of its manufacturer must be observed. One of the most frequently repeated mistakes by inexperienced drivers is the ignition of a car on gas during the winter season. In winter, the car should always be fired on gasoline and before the engine switches to gas, the engine should be warmed up. This will facilitate the reducer's work and extend its life.

If we hear from the review person that we should decide to replace the regulator, the decision should not be postponed. According to the recommendations of the majority of the manufacturer, it should be done after traveling from 50,000 to 100,000 km / o. These values, however, depend on the driving style, gas quality, engine type and type of installation that we have in our vehicle.

How is the gas reducer selected?

It is obvious that the reducers will be different from each other depending on the type of installation, that is why the first step is to match the evaporator fitted to the LPG system in our car. The second factor that is important is the very power of the engine. The reducer is designed to maintain its highest possible operating parameters regardless of the engine load. The low-capacity engine evaporators will not work well in units with much higher capacity and power. In the case of wrong selection of the regulator at high engine load, it may become frosted due to the impossibility of changing the liquid state into gas, which may result in the engine stopping and inability to continue driving.

A very important feature of every regulator is to keep the & oacute; parameter in operation regardless of the load on the motor. It is quite difficult and can be maintained only within certain limits, therefore the regulator is selected in terms of engine power, in which it is to be used. As the engine load increases, the evaporator must have a capacity reserve to cover the increased fuel requirement of the engine.

In the case of fourth generation gas installations, single-stage reducers are selected, having only one chamber where the gas evaporation takes place during operation of the engine and its pressure is reduced. For older generations of gas installations, two-stage gear reducers are recommended.

Price of the regulator

Depending on the power and generation of the regulator and manufacturer, the price of the installation may vary from the cheapest, which will get up to PLN 300-150 to PLN 140-150. The exception may be motors with a power (several hundred horses), where such models have to be paid more accordingly. It is worth choosing reducers in proven stores, then we are sure that they come from the best manufacturer & in the market.
